Welcome message
Intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) is an important technique for safely performing brain and spine surgeries. Patients planning to undergo brain or spine surgeries tend to choose those facilities where IONM is implemented.
Since 2015, the Taiwan Society for Stereotactic Functional Neurosurgery and Neuroradiology has held annual seminars and workshops on IONM, providing basic and advanced knowledge and techniques used in clinical practice to related personnel. Undoubtedly, the quality of IONM can be promoted by sharing experiences, thereby ensuring the safety of surgical procedures.
Since 2006, when international society of intraoperative neurophysiology was set up, academic meetings and educational courses on IONM have been regularly held in many countries. In recent decades, IONM has also reached international waters, sweeping over Asia-Oceania regions. The Asian-Oceanian Society of Intraoperative Neurophysiology (AOSIN) was founded in 2018, and the 1st congress was held in Seoul in December the same year. Since then, four annual conferences have been successfully held, enabling us to share our expertise in this field.
The 3rd congress of AOSIN was held online in Taiwan on May 29, 2021, owing to the pandemic. We are glad to have the opportunity to host offline the 5th congress of AOSIN on May 6, 2023, and meet each other in person. I would like to express my gratitude to all the members and all those involved, and sincerely wish that the 5th congress of AOSIN can provide abundant and useful information as usual, leading to the progress of IONM in many countries in the Asian-Oceanian regions.

Presidential message
Welcome to AOSIN 2023 webpage. Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) is a well-known measure for the prevention of intraoperative surgical complications. IONM has become an indispensable technique and has been playing a critical role as one of the standards of care worldwide. Asian Oceanian Society of Intraoperative Neurophysiology (AOSIN) was established in 2018 with a kick-off congress in Seoul. The annual congress has succeeded the
second in Osaka in 2019, the third online in Taipei in 2021, and the fourth in Chennai.
The Asian Oceanian region occupies approximately 60% of the world population and is still growing. One of AOSIN's main missions is to boost education in intraoperative neurophysiology in this growing region. Internationally renowned speakers will join us to teach and discuss new developments and scientific advancements that will change the future practice and research of intraoperative neurophysiology. I am looking forward to meeting you in person at the Congress in Taipei this time, and do hope have nice communication, exchange experiences and ideas, and enjoy friendships.
